I came across this slokam from Vishnu Puranam:
नैवास्तमर्कस्य नोदया सर्वदा स्तः।
उदयास्तमनाख्यं हि दर्शनादर्शनं रवेः॥ 2:8:15
There is no setting of the sun nor is there sunrise. It is always there.
Sunrise and sunset mean visibility and non-visibility of the Sun.
This is very interesting! Does it indicate a casual knowledge of a Heliocentric theory? The Vishnu Purana predates Aryabhata by most estimates. It is worth noting that, at any rate, there is no opposition between this religious book and a scientifically sound theory.
